Week of Service

MLK Event: Sunday, January 14, 2024 | 1:00 PM- 4:00 PM | Barber Park in the Simkins Indoor Pavilion

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Week of Service will take place January 13 – 20. During this time, our nonprofit partners will be hosting on-location service projects at their facilities that you can be a part of. Click on the button below to find those service opportunities.

In addition, we will be hosting our 15th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. in-house Day of Service on Sunday, January 14. We hope to see you again this year for service projects, a nonprofit fair, children’s activities, community art project, food drive, and more!

Service Projects

Service projects are the heart of the MLK Day of Service. Volunteer attendees will be packing snack packs and first aid kits as well as making no-sew blankets for those in need. We will also be creating Valentine's Day cards for seniors.
*Arrive early for best selection of service projects!*

Nonprofit Fair

We hope the Day of Service inspires our attendees to want to serve in their community year-round. Our nonprofit / mentor fair is an opportunity for all of our volunteers to learn about the many organizations in our community and find one that inspires their passion.

Children's Area

We have a special area just for the kids! We will have a craft for them to create and take home. The Imagination Library will be there and families can sign up for free books to be mailed to their home every month!

Food Drive

We encourage all of our attendees to bring one or more items of food to donate to the food drive. Donations will be given to local food pantries in the area.

Community Art Project

At the Day of Service, as a community, we will work on a collaborative art project that will then be displayed in the community.

On-location Projects

This year, we are hoping to expand our MLK event to a whole week and allow for more service opportunities. These service projects will take place Saturday Jan 13 to Saturday Jan 20. To view the service opportunities, click the button below.
