LOCAL BUSINESSES RALLY TO SUPPORT THE 26th ANNUAL HUMAN RACE

GREENSBORO, March 10th, 2020 — The 26th Annual Human Race 5k is a virtual event taking place from June 13th -19th 2020 and the live event will be on June 20th. Over 75 local nonprofits have signed up to fundraise at this event and several for profit companies have created fundraising teams to raise money for nonprofits that align with their values.

The Volunteer Center has facilitated this event since 1994 and has raised $5 million for the nonprofit community with this one fundraiser. Many of the participating nonprofits count on this event to fundraise for their missions for the entire year. The Volunteer Center offers this event as a way for these organizations to be a part of a larger fundraiser without having to cover upfront costs like venues, food, and rentals.

“We would not be able to cover the costs for this event without our sponsors,” says Carley Swaim Walker, Executive Director of The Volunteer Center. “Their financial contributions allow fundraising nonprofits to participate in this event at no cost and retain more of their fundraised dollars. Our sponsors are directly impacting the missions of these very needed organizations.”

Sponsorship support comes from local businesses of every size, small family-owned businesses like Jimmy’s Plumbing and large financial institutions like Bank of America. Many of the sponsors give much more than financial support.

Bank of America has sponsored since 2001 and has been the presenting 5k sponsor since 2004 and is returning for this 26th annual Human Race. They also participate as fundraisers for 12 different nonprofit organizations and have been the top company fundraisers ever year. They also show up on race day in force with hundreds of their staff, family members, and supporters in attendance.

Additional repeat sponsors are Dick’s Broadcasting, WFMY, Arch Mortgage Insurance, Jimmy’s Plumbing, American National Bank, Griswold Home Care,  Zoës Kitchen, Kneaded Energy, Little Guy’s Movers, and Palmetto Equity Group.

New this year, we have support and sponsorship from Novant Health, Renewal By Andersen, Truliant Federal Credit Union, Sequoia Services, Right Fit Storage, Smoothie King, Joy Squad, Shift, Yes Weekly, Hand in Hand Water Safety, Good Health Chiropractic, and Biscuitville.

All of these sponsors will be present at the event and will be part of the experience. Collectively, these sponsor contributions make this event possible and have allowed us to make improvements to the long-standing event with a new location and improved runner experience.

More about the event:

Registration for timed runners is $35. Day of registrations are $40. Walkers and those utilizing the short-route turnaround will not be timed, and can register at no cost but are encouraged to make a donation at registration.
