Plan to kick off 2021 Serving Others!

The Volunteer Center & Truist Bank present Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Virtually

With many other Opportunities to Serve and Participate

Triad, NC— The Volunteer Center (TVC) in sponsorship from Truist Bank and in partnership with local community organizations, civic groups, colleges, universities, and Guilford County Schools will host Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service virtually, all are invited to tune in and participate.  The MLK Day of Service, Monday, January 18th, 2021 from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm will be broadcasted live on Facebook, www.volunteercentertriad.org and have the option to host Zoom watch parties. The event will include many activities and opportunities to engage in community, learn about the volunteer needs of our nonprofit partners and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King through service.

The broadcast will feature:

  • Hands-on Service Projects
  • Nonprofit Fair
  • Local performances and artistry 
  • Children’s activities
  • Storytime with local celebrities
  • Mentoring Matters Fair
  • Virtual Photo Booth
  • Imagination Library free book sign-up

Other opportunities to serve and get involved with MLK Day/Week/Month of Service are as follows:  

Participate in a Blood Drive a partnership with One Blood, The Volunteer Center and Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship

Saturday, January 16th, 2021 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Nussbaum Center parking lot at 1451 S Elm Eugene Street, GSO, 27406

Donate shelf-stable food items, baby food, formula, wipes, diapers, new socks, shoes, coats, and clothing to the  

MLK Food & Baby Needs Drive donations are accepted Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at The Volunteer Center of the Triad, 1500 Yanceyville Street throughout the month of January

Volunteer at the MLK Drive Clean-up on Saturday, January 16th from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, meet at Gillespie Park Elementary School at 1900 Martin Luther King Dr., GSO, 27406 at 8:45 am, preregistration is required at www.volunteercentertriad.org

Explore Career opportunities at the MLK Career Fair (virtually) a partnership with Triad Goodwill and The Volunteer Center of the Triad, Monday, February 1, 2021, time, and tune-in location TBD
